dctravelgirl's Reviews

You hear the wind whistling past your building and you barely want to open your eyes knowing you have to walk to the subway in gale force winds. But wait, you remember you have the down comforter like warmth of The North Face Women's Metropolis Parka, and suddenly you can't wait to get your toast and coffee going. TNF wraps you in head to knee coziness with premium 600 fill down and lightweight, smooth fabric that wears well and slides on easily over sweaters. The light color options have a DWR finish that resists moisture so you can walk in a light drizzle or a heavy fog without worrying about getting damp. An insulated, adjustable hood helps retain body heat or you can snap it off and leave it at home when you wear this down parka with a cute hat instead. Zip this long down jacket all the way up, the chinguard is lined with soft fabric to prevent chaffing. The zipper is backed by an outside flap that snaps closed for double protection from bone-chilling breezes and it zips in 2 directions for convenience and style options. Stash your iPod in the internal media pocket with head phone port so you can zone out on the train ride to work and tuck your hands into the 2 front zippered pockets to keep them toasty. Highly fashionable, The North Face Metropolis Parka for women will keep you warm and toasty in the big cold city while others cower under the covers.

I did not like the way the sleeves tapered down to the wrist. Also the sleeves were too long. I bought a medium and a large. Both were returned. I did like the length of the coat itself and the black color though.

Staying warm and dry during challenging adventures is often an exercise in layering science, and with the Mountain Hardwear Epic Jacket for men you've got the first line of defense. With 10k and 10k waterproof and breathability ratings, this hooded outer shell features DryQ Core laminate technology to block wind, rain, and snow in the worst of weather. This winter jacket has an attached hood with a structured brim and a high collar closure for added protection against the elements. To regulate excess body heat, pit-zips partner with the rain jacket's mesh front pockets for extremely effective cross ventilation. Closing up the gaps, a Micro-Chamois-lined chin guard tops the front zip to eliminate zipper chafe, adjustable Velcro cuffs seal at the wrist, and dual hem drawcords lock down the waist. Light, efficient, and highly packable, the Men's Epic Jacket from Mountain Hardwear is a must have when chasing down life's endeavors.

It's is the second Epic jacket I bought for my boyfriend. He uses it all year long. In the winter he wears it over his down vest. He would highly recommend it.

I was looking for a comfortable walking shoe. I am a big Keen fan so I thought I would try these out based on the positive reviews. They are very comfortable and nice and wide in the toe area. The leather lining is soft. It is great to find a shoe made of leather on the inside and outside. I plan on taking these shoes with me on my many travels.

Make a wintry entrance at the Banff Film Festival wearing the Patagonia Downtown Loft Parka for Women. With beautiful contoured quilting and element-shedding insulated warmth, this elegant below-the-knee jacket brings uncompromising warmth and style to any winter outing. The exterior shell fabric features a unique and eye catching quilting pattern and has also been treated with a Deluge DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish to shed snow and rain, for reliable warmth and dryness when you're out and about. Luxuriously insulated with 800-fill-power premium European goose down, the Downtown Loft Parka has an incredible warmth-to-weight ratio and is also highly compressible, for quick and easy packing when you're jet-setting through winter wonderlands. The charming shawl collar becomes a hood when the flurries kick up or a light drizzle moves in while the two-way zipper is covered by a wind flap for extra protection from stray breezes. With plenty of pockets to store necessities and zippered hand-warmer pockets to warm frozen fingers when you're waiting in line for the next film, the Patagonia Women's Downtown Loft Parka for women keeps you in cozy warmth and sophisticated style wherever your travels take you.

I bought the medium and long because I wasn't sure of the size. The medium fit (I am 5 feet 4 inches 145 pounds). However it was a little too long for me so I returned both of the coats. Also I did not care much for the plastic snaps which did not seem too sturdy for me. I will continue my quest for a medium length down coat!!

I was looking for a mid-length down coat. This coat is very thin and is very fitted. I wouldn't be able to fit a sweater underneath. The sleeves were rather long. The zipper was not cooperating. I chose a medium since I previously bought a medium MH Phantom down jacket and figured that a medium in this style would fit me as well. I am going to return this coat and get another brand.

When you need to go all-in in the mountain environment, do it in your Women's Mountain Hardwear Phantom Jacket. Insulated with absurdly warm, and exceptionally compressible, 800 fill down, wrapped inside a Lunar Ripstop nylon AXF Super DWR treated shell, you get a jacket capable of staying out long after you decide it's time to leave. The AXF Super durable water repellant (DWR) finish is five times more durable and longer lasting than standard DWR treatments. Box quilt construction keeps the down from shifting, and adjustable Velcro cuffs and a one-handed drawcord hem help eliminate cold spots. Zippered handwarmer pockets and a zippered chest pocket provide ample storage and round out the features on this plump parka. Get a hardcore jacket for hardcore conditions, in the Phantom Jacket for women from Mountain Hardwear.

I just got my Mountain Hardware Phantom jacket in time for the first snowy weather of the season. I am 5 foot 4 and ordered the medium jacket. The arms were a bit long but the adjustable cuffs did the trick. It is very lightweight and the fabric is soft and comfortable. I will be bringing this jacket with me to Iceland next month as it packs into the compact pouch that comes with the jacket. I plan on getting a lot of use from this jacket this winter. The delivery was super fast and ordering was very easy.

The vault is that untouchable room where valuables stay secure and George Clooney always tries to break into, right? Now take keep picture in your head as we move over to The North Face Vault Daypack Backpack. Almost as roomy but way more comfy to carry on your back, this TNF backpack offers 28 liters of space in its one large main compartment. Perfect for big binders and a bulky hoody without crushing your lunch. A foam back panel and FlexVent injection-molded shoulder straps go easy on your back and shoulders when your load gets heavy. The front accessory pocket keeps the small stuff organized and the reflective patch on the front keeps you visible in low light as you ride your bike or walk home after class. Best of all, the simple, low key style of The North Face Vault Pack lets you ditch your books on the weekend and stuff it full of hiking or beach gear.

I was looking for a backpack to take to work. I did not like the hard back to it. Also, I wished there were more pockets other than the one in the front.

With cozy plush and packable down insulation and a long cut your winters will be a little warmer in the Outdoor Research Aria Parka for women. A super light ripstop polyester shell and taffeta lining sandwich quilted 650 fill down for uncompromising warmth. With a slim cut this insulating jacket provides the warmth of down without the overstuffed look of most puffy coats. Falling at the hip the thin profile and full length zip give a fashionable look that is equally at home in the mountains as it is cruising the town on a cold evening. A zippered internal chest media pocket lets you keep your important items close at hand. Cozy up into the removable down hood and melt into the soft Aria Parka.

I was looking for a mid-length down coat. I liked the light-weight and soft feel to the jacket. However...the zipper was of poor quality and the cut was not very nice. Therefore, I returned the coat.
