Northerngirl's Reviews

Whether you ski or snowboard, these Women's Freedom LRBC Pants from The North Face keep you dry and comfortable throughout the day. The Freedom LRBC Pants feature a low rise, boot cut--that's what LRBC stands for--design with low-profile, mesh-lined zippered thigh vents. The North Face used their Chimney Venting system to optimize airflow throughout the pant. Specially-designed stretch mesh pulls cool air into the pant as the heated air exits. Keep in mind that the Freedom LRBC Pant for women isn't densely insulated--it's more of a shell pant with a lightweight Thermoliner 1 fleece lining. The adjustable waist tabs help you comfortably layer this shell over fleece pants or foundation clothing. That said, this layering versatility makes the Women's Freedom LRBC Pant an ideal candidate for 100-day ski and snowboarding seasons. Other key features include articulated knees to enhance your range of motion and reinforced fabric along the cuffs to protect the pant from sharp ski edges. While the roomy zippered cargo pant won't replace your backcountry backpack, you'll find enough space for your wallet, car keys and even a small two-way radio or cellular phone.

An earthy look in heavy cable knit, The North Face Cable Fish Beanie will hook you at first sight. Incredible styling on or off the mountain, this attractive wool/alpaca/acrylic hat keeps your noggin toasty during a bucket list of inspirations. Fashionable in wool, this beanie is wrapped on the inside with a micro-fleece ear band that provides added warmth so your lobes won't get nipped. Tagged with a classic The North Face logo label on the side, this one size fits all winter hat fits a menagerie of bobble heads. Since you know from your knitting days that producing a cool cable knit is tough, North Face just made getting jiggy with it easier. From truly ridiculously cold weather to culture conscious climes the TNF Cable Fish Beanie says you belong.

I like the beanie, especially the microfleece ear band for added warmth. Staying warm is a huge issue for me and this beanie has been good regarding warmth and the bonus is the nice styling. Plan to use beanie a lot this year.

Layering up this winter doesn't necessarily imply bulking up on binding and confining fabrics--especially if you're wearing this warm and lightweight Women's TKA 100 Microvelour Glacier 1/4-Zip Shirt from The North Face. It's a perfect pullover that you can wear as a baselayer for skiing, climbing, hiking or snowboarding in snowy conditions, or as a top during aprs ski or hanging out with friends in your cozy winter rental place. While cheap conventional fleece tops often pill beneath a ski sweater or middle layer, the Polartec Classic polyester Microvelour fleece keeps it all together without snags or frayed fabric--even through several seasons of regular use. The lightweight, highly breathable fabric facilitates drying, even if you're hanging it up with the rest of your laundered camping clothing in the summer backcountry. The North Face designed their Women's Women's TKA 100 Microvelour Glacier 1/4-Zip Shirt with a relaxed fit and an extended length with a one-inch drop tail in the back for added coverage. The Polartec Classic polyester Microvelour fleece is UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rated at 30 for moderate UV ray protection in bright alpine conditions.

Wonderful, easy and warm. Looks good and cleans well. Wear this as a staple item because it fits well under a coat and provides me with that little extra bit of warmth that I tend to need.

Complete coverage for frigid climes; the Marmot Women's Milo Jacket is lightweight, resilient and has water-resistant Ripstop fabric that's packed with high-grade 800 fill goose down for durable warmth and comfort in rough weather. The mid-thigh length provides welcome protection below the belt and complements practically anything in your wardrobe. Well-made pockets hold plenty of precious cargo.

I think this will be a great purchase. I like the lightness of the coat, yet is very warm. So glad not to have all the bulk and can put a shell over this jacket. I especially like the length of the jacket since it covers my backside. Only drawback thus far is color, Ivory, allows down feathers to show through and sometimes makes me think I have a spot on the jacket. I would have purchased black to avoid, but I really needed a lighter colored jacket to go with other outdoor wear. The jacket is still new, but I can see how snags could be an issue. Warmth was my biggest concern, not sure how it would perform with wind, although the fabric seems wind resistant; I am not sure about rain. I like the jacket very well, and for the price I paid, I feel I received a great product that is well made and good looking.
Pros Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
Cons: fabric may snag
